Tier List Hub

Monk Took Book is a memory-library game that happens to include weapons. This hub exists so you do not paste a combat ranking onto Holy Island. Rank what shortens a night of scribe orders, what keeps the collection intact, and what still matters when you turn threats off in game settings. Open the perk tier list when you are staring at crypt shrines. Open weapons and tools when you are choosing a dagger, a crossbow, a holy cross, or a ladder. Open the enemy tier list when you are ranking what actually wrecks a night — the Book Thief, the Green Abbot, Draugr, pests — not a damage meter.

Ranking philosophy

Every list on this wiki is scored for three jobs, not for a single meta.

Solo memory nights. You haul unique covers from the dock, invent a filing system you can still recall after the belfry rings, and run those tomes to the scribes before dawn. Carry limit, dash recovery, shelf height, and a filing plan beat raw damage. Read how to organize and the memory planner before you treat Strength as a damage tree.

Combat nights. Vermin, spirits, fire, and a book thief can wreck shelves while you fetch. Then the dagger, Perfect Parry, the holy cross versus the Green Abbot, a torch, and a bucket start to matter. Combat is optional. Rank combat tools high only if you left those systems on.

Four-player speed. Co-op is the intended chaos. More monks shorten the night clock — four players sit at about fifty-five percent of a solo timer — so wasted trips hurt more, not less. Speed and carry still rank high, but so do tool slots, role loadouts, and not blocking the same aisle. See solo versus co-op and the co-op guide.

How we treat unknown shrine text

SquarePlay lists Strength, Speed, and Carpentry as the perk skills you pray for in the crypt. Shrine cards also cover tool slots, book carry limit, maximum shelf height, run and dash speed, faster run recovery, and a Torch Perk Shrine that pushes ember ignition toward zero. We rank those themes, not invented skill names. Trees can vary between the live demo, launch, and later patch notes. Walk downstairs and read the shrine in front of you before you spend.

S means buy this when the bottleneck is night fetches or growth. C means situational, or skip it on a peaceful save. Nothing here is a commandment.

Perk list versus weapon list

The perk tier list ranks crypt prayers: carry, recovery, carpentry, shelf height, tool slots, and torch safety. The weapons and tools page ranks the dagger, crossbow and bolts, holy cross, thrown books, torch, bucket, quill, and small versus large ladders. Lord Fluffy is a cat, not a loadout.

Peaceful runs still need ladders, a quill, and a bucket. A chill how to play loop is not a reason to skip utility. If you came here from the guides hub, treat these two lists as the spend and loadout half of that loop, not a replacement for learning the abbey.

Spend order before you chase ranks

Blessings come from completed night orders, with a boon for finishing early. The Blessings guide covers earning and spending. In short: unlock the shelf sites you need to sort the morning delivery, buy the ladder and quill that let you reach and repair the collection, then pray for carry and recovery. Rooms and side doors (videos show some doors and shrines around thirty Blessings) expand the monastery map, but a huge wing you cannot remember is a trap.

New players should finish getting started and one clean night from the walkthrough before dumping a purse into combat shops. The Blessings hub is the overview if you still do not know crypt versus shop versus rooms.

How to argue with this hub

If your nights fail because you cannot find the cover, that is an organization problem: fix filing before you buy Speed. If you find the book and still miss the desk, buy carry and recovery. If fire or the Green Abbot eats the stack, open the combat guide and the tools list. If four monks still miss the timer, split rooms instead of stacking the same corridor.

Check launch notes and patch notes after balance changes. Demo notes matter if you still practice on the free app — it cannot join full-game lobbies. System requirements and controls will not change a tier, but they will change whether you can host a four-monk night at all.

Where to go next

Start with the perk tier list if you have Blessings in the purse and a shrine in front of you. Start with weapons and tools if you are standing in a shop. For a broader opinion of the loop, see the review. Store pages and socials live under official links and the links hub. The updates hub is the place to look when a patch moves a shrine cost.

Treat these ranks as a starting argument, not a commandment. Walk the crypt after each successful night, read the shrine text yourself, and only then spend. Fetch bottlenecks belong on the perk page; fire, spirits, and missing ladders belong on the tools page.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers for novices tending the Holy Island library.

How is this tier list ranked?

By three jobs: solo memory nights, combat nights with threats on, and four-player speed. Carry, recovery, and filing beat damage on a peaceful save. See the perk tier list and weapons and tools.

Should I buy every S-tier perk?

No. S means it usually pays for night fetches or collection growth. Skip torch safety if fires are off in settings. Spend using the order on the Blessings guide.

Are the perk names exact?

We only rank themes SquarePlay shows: Strength, Speed, Carpentry, carry limit, shelf height, tool slots, dash speed, run recovery, and the Torch Perk Shrine. Read the crypt yourself; trees can shift after patch notes.

Do peaceful runs need a weapons list?

Yes. Ladders, the quill, and the bucket still matter when enemies are off. Combat steel is optional; utility is not. The weapons and tools page says which is which.

Does four-player co-op change the ranks?

The night timer shrinks (four players at about 55 percent of solo), so carry, recovery, and tool slots rise. Split rooms using solo versus co-op instead of stacking four monks on one shelf.

Where should a new player start instead of ranks?

Finish getting started and the day-night loop first. Ranks help after you have failed a night for a clear reason.
